Projection Mapping Installation, Lethargy Festival

The theme of the annual festival was deep sea life. We used old bathtubs and turned them into a medium that gives the visitors a glimpse at life in the darkest ocean.

The brief was to create an immersive experience for a large audience. Two open-air concert stages, various food-stands and music events were operational simultaneously around the site. We chose to spread our artefacts somewhat away from the main spectacle area, to give the audience more space to circulate but also to decentralize the overwhelming effects of intense entertainment. We had a lot of freedom with the animation as well as the installation and we worked independently, building our own beamer-rig, sanding, painting and layering the projection surface, among other.

We connected to the festival theme of marine life by animating the water and sea creatures with C4D. We masked the animation with MadMapper software and optimized the light conditions on site. We sprayed the outer surface of the tubs with UV-paint and used UV-lamps to emphasize the position and make them stand out in the late hour.
